What are veneers?
More and more patients express the desire for a perfect smile. The appearance of the front teeth determines the aesthetics of the smile and can thus boost self-confidence and facilitate social contact.
Veneers
Veneers are thin, translucent ceramic shells that are attached to the enamel surface using a special bonding technique. The front teeth in particular are of outstanding importance for an attractive, aesthetic overall impression.
The wafer-thin ceramic shells of approx. 0.5 mm thickness can be perfectly adapted to the shape and colour of the real teeth individually and give the front teeth a harmonious, aesthetic appearance again.
A significant advantage is that the preparation margin is not placed under the gums, so that a veneer remains beautiful and invisible even when the gums recede. Due to the substance-preserving preparation the majority of the tooth remains intact.
Veneers are particularly suitable for
Broken anterior teeth
Strong discolouration due to coffee, nicotine, red wine, black tea, etc.
Malocclusions (e.g. teeth too short)
Malformations (e.g. teeth that are too small)
Severe surface defects (erosions)

Preservation of more tooth structure
The special thing about veneers is that, unlike crowns, very little valuable tooth structure has to be removed.

Aesthetics
Due to the good optical interaction between porcelain and tooth structure, all-ceramic veneers achieve exceptionally beautiful aesthetics.
Course of treatment
After a thorough preliminary examination, it must be clarified that the patient does not grind (bruxism).
A thin layer of tooth structure (0.5 mm) is then removed from the lip side of the teeth.
A plaster model is made over a precision impression.
Ceramic veneers are custom-made in the in-house dental laboratory. Our dental technicians are involved in determining the colour and shape. In order to copy nature exactly for the veneers, the technician must be able to see and assess the structure, shape and colour of the neighbouring teeth with his own eyes.
For the try-in, adhesives are tested in different colours and with different light transmission. This can change colours and local discolouration.
If the cosmetic result is convincing during the try-in, the veneer is bonded to the tooth.
Veneers not only place high demands on the expected aesthetic result, but also on the dental and dental technical skills of all professionals.
